Before I delve into writing my blog, I would like to acknowledge the amazing writers who helped create my content. I would not have been able to get this site done and make it look so neat and tidy without the contribution of my friend, Jonathan Sanchez
, owner of Blue Bicycle Books
on Upper King Street in Charleston. Jonathan is a super smarty pants, father, husband, novelist, and most notably, he inspires kids through writing poetry. One of my favorite memories with Jonathan and his wife, my friend, Lauren
(blog post on her coming soon), was cheering him on as a contestant on Jeopardy
at Moe's Crosstown Tavern
. The bar was packed full and we all cheered loudly with every question and answer...it was a truly thrilling experience to see our friend on Jeopardy!
Jonathan, thank you for your help and support with my website. You were able to able to perfectly convey my image and brand through the cheerful words on each page. Steph and I feel so lucky to call you and Lauren our dear friends and look forward to many more dinners out and photo sessions together in the future.
I adore the bike that sits in front of Jonathan's bookstore, Blue Bicycle Books
, on Upper King Street.
I love this picture of Jonathan's daughter in his bookstore. She's holding an instant picture that I took of her.
Welcome to my long awaited blogsite! Last year around this time, I tried to create my own site and it was pretty disastrous. I thought I didn't deserve a fancy new site, that I had to earn my place in this business before I could have a legit online presence. But the more I thought about it, the more I knew I needed a strong foundation for my business and of course, I would work hard to perfect my craft. I remember calling Dave Warfel and Brock Martin of Infinet Design
and was devastated to learn that they had a 9 month waiting list! I wanted to start my life as a photographer as soon as possible. Looking back, this was the biggest blessing in disguise. I was able to use the entire year to take classes at the Charleston Center for Photography
, assist for some of the best photographers in the business, purchase new equipment, practice and build my portfolio. When it was finally time to start working on the site, I knew more about my style and how I wanted to define myself as an artist...and I had content, images I am proud of, that I did not have year ago.
Brock and Dave, thank you so much for your patience with me. For taking the time to achieve the look and feel I was dreaming up but couldn't always articulate. Your enthusiasm and professionalism made working with you a pleasure. Thank you for creating a site that I am thrilled to call my own. I can't wait to show you My Favorite Things
in Charleston when you visit!
This was my Splash Page for a year, isn't it darling? This definitely helped me build my online presence and I will miss it!
